With over 490 branches nationwide, Plumb Center is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of plumbing and heating products. Their sister company, Parts Center is Europe’s largest supplier of spare parts, operating from over 200 locations across the UK.

It is a very competitive industry and their customers could easily get their parts from other suppliers if they don’t know the location of the nearest Plumb Center or Parts Center. They approached us to come up with a solution to this problem.

Our solution was not only to deliver on this but also to enable them to develop a deeper relationship with their customer base.

The idea that met their marketing and customer relationship needs best was the production of a mobile app. We developed one app that could be branded and used by Parts Center and Plumb Center separately.

The key features of the app were developed to specifically address Plumb Center/Parts Center’s need to be more visible to their target audience. We did this by exploiting the iPhones’s GPS capability to:

  • help tradesmen locate their closest store
  • help tradesmen know the opening hours of their closest store
  • help them find contact details easily and quickly
  • provide directions from their current location to the nearest store

Whilst, the apps provided a great solution to the original problem, we were also keen to maximise the marketing potential of the app to further strengthen the relationship between the stores and their customers.

Our solution was to build the app to receive ‘special offers’ which could be produced and sent from Plumb Center/Parts Center HQ, through a simple, back end admin platform that we created for them.
